Description

The RFC-P Recirculating Fume Cabinet is designed for high-performance fume containment, ensuring maximum protection in demanding lab environments. Engineered for volatile compounds, toxic fumes, and hazardous vapours, the RFC-P Series features large filtration areas, optimized airflow control, and advanced fan technology to maintain operator safety.

High-Containment Filtration & Airflow Control

  • Dual-stage filtration – High-efficiency prefilters and AES Carbon Filters, adaptable for a wide range of gas contaminants (More info)
  • Superior airflow – Maintains >0.5 m/s ±20% inward airflow for consistent operator protection
  • Versatile configurations – Available in 1200mm and 1700mm widths, suitable for benchtop or trolley-mounted applications
  • Custom sizes and engineered solutions – Designed to meet specific project requirements
  • Portable containment – Optional trolley system for mobility, ideal for endoscope sterilisation in hospitals and research institutions

Engineered for Safety & Efficiency

  • Stainless steel work zone for durability and chemical resistance
  • Low-noise, vibration-free operation for a safer lab environment
  • Low-voltage touch controls & glare-free lighting for enhanced usability
  • Flexible installation – Can be placed over sinks or equipment when supplied without a work tray
  • Duct-free or externally vented operation to suit various laboratory setups

HEPA Filters can be added to the exhaust of the RFC to allow for capture of particulates.

The RFC Recirculating Fume Cabinet is produced in accordance with AS 2243.9 and can be validated by a NATA registered laboratory

Australian Standards

The RFC-P series cabinets are designed and manufactured to fully comply with Australian Standard AS2243.9: Recirculating Fume Cabinets.

  • Floor stand
  • Trolley
  • Carbon filter for specific contaminants
  • ‘Wheel-in’ configuration for endoscope trolleys

AES Environmental is a NATA registered laboratory that provides comprehensive on-site maintenance, testing and certification services. Regular certification and testing is reccomended as follows:

  • On-site prior to use
  • After any electrical of mechanical maintenance
  • After filter replacement
  • After re-location
  • At least annually
  • In special circumstances, e.g. if faulty operation is suspected

Air Filtration

Air exhausted from the top of the cabinet is filtered by a two-stage filtration system. A prefilter protects the final filter system from particulates > 5μm. The second and final filtration is activated carbon filter which incorporates carbon granules with a selected chemical impregnation to optimise the arrestance of specific vapours. Special adsorption filters are fitted for the capture of a wide range of vapours. Chemical impregnation of the carbon produces a chemical reaction similar to an oxidation process when the contaminant is adsorbed. This process extends filter life as the surface of the catalyst will not be covered by molecules trapped on it, thus enabling the process to be repeated. These filters will operate effectively in environments with temperature up to 70°C, and with relative humidity up to 80%.

Cabinet

Outer casing of the RFC is constructed from galvanized steel, powder-coated to AS2700. The work zone is constructed in Grade 304 stainless steel. A removable aluminium screen is f itted in front of the prefilter at the rear of the work zone. Fan A direct drive motor/blower is regulated by a variable speed controller to enable airflows to be maintained through f ilter life.

Electrical

Cabinets operate on single-phase 240V, 50 Hz power via a 10A outlet. A low voltage touch control panel withfunction status indicated by LEDs is located on the front of the cabinet. Glare-free f luorescent lamps provide a minimum lighting intensity of 800 lux at the work surface.

Pre-Filters

An easily-accessed, disposable polyester prefilter arrests not less than 90% of particulates > 5μm, thus prolonging carbon filter life. A warning light in the control panel signals the need for prefilter service
